AERO-LITE Phase 1 prototype — three mason jars with zeolite beads, silica gel, and CO₂ sensors on a desk
SPACE SYSTEMS · CO₂ MANAGEMENT

How could astronauts manage CO₂ on the Moon?

A regenerative CO₂ preprocessor for lunar habitats. Started mid-March 2026 after an email from Space Center Houston. Built by an 8th grader.

  • Live 3-sensor CO₂ dashboard at 1 Hz — real hardware, not a rendering
  • Regenerative concept: dry → trap → (planned) release and reuse of the sorbent
  • Top Individual Award · Middle School Division · NASA Carbon Capture Challenge 2026

BUILT · WORKING TODAY Prototype is real hardware with live readings · the full regeneration cycle still needs testing

ROBOTICS · FIRMWARE · CONTROLS

The LEGO question became a Wi-Fi-controlled robotic arm.

A Wi-Fi-controlled 6-DoF robotic arm with custom firmware and a browser-based controller. Started in 8th grade and still evolving in high school.

  • Arduino UNO R4 WiFi + 8 × TD-8120MG servos through an Emakefun motor driver
  • Custom firmware: per-servo offsets, speed control, S-curve motion, emergency stop
  • Browser controller over Wi-Fi — no pre-built robotics app

BUILT · WORKING TODAY Wi-Fi browser control works · the computer-vision layer is still in development
